About Malia

Malia Baker is a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado. After moving to Los Angeles at the age of eighteen, Malia started working professionally and performing in commercials, television shows, movies and live performances. Credits include; Choreographer & Dancer for Sofi Tukker, & Purple Disco Machine,  Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You (25th Anniversary)” music video, Mo Willems’ “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience” HBO Special, “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” at PaleyFest, and the musical film Valley Girl (2020). She has also worked with incredible networks and brands including NBC, Disney, Hermes, Capital One, and Don Julio.

 

In addition to dancing, Malia loves to create and inspire in choreography, teaching and producing. In the past decade, she has taught in public schools, studios and conventions across the world. Currently in Los Angeles, Malia teaches at renowned studios including TMILLY, Millennium Dance Complex, and Movement Lifestyle. Most recently Malia joined Bob’s Dance Shop as a dancer, choreographer and resident “LadyBob” in 2023. 

Her choreography can be seen on “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 17, on tour with Purple Disco Machine, and in the short film "Little White Lies." She is a resident choreographer for Tease Productions and Bobs Dance Shop. She also produces a choreography showcase, titled “Stage & Screen,” which has featured over a hundred dancers and choreographers.

Malia believes that dance is a universal language that transcends barriers and hopes to use it to bring communities together. Through her teaching, performing and choreography, she aims to make dance accessible to anyone who watches and hopes to inspire others to discover the joy of movement.
